AKRON, Ohio, July 10, 2012 – Attendees of this month’s 2012 EAA AirVenture show will have an opportunity to enter a contest to win a ride on the Goodyear Blimp during the event.

EAA AirVenture, the world’s largest general aviation show, will take place July 23-29 in Oshkosh, Wis. (The blimp ride is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 27.)

“During the show, attendees can visit our booth and enter a drawing to ride on the Goodyear blimp as part of our ‘I Wanna Blimp Ride’ contest,” said Eric Varndell, global marketing manager, aviation tires, The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. “This is an exciting opportunity that people won’t want to miss!” (For more details about the contest, click here.)

In addition, aerobatics champion Mike Goulian will deliver a one-of-a-kind performance in his Goodyear-badged Extra 300SC during AirVenture.

“Mike is one of the top names in aerobatics,” noted Varndell. “His performance is an impressive display of airmanship, and combines the precision flying of his competition experience with modern air show aerobatics.”

Goodyear is a sponsor of Goulian’s 2012 air show schedule. (The company also is the title sponsor of the 2012 Goodyear Advantage Tour. For more details about the tour, click here.)

During AirVenture, Goulian will sign autographs at Goodyear’s booth (#B2131) on Wed., July 25, at 11 a.m. Central Standard Time (CST), and on Sat., July 28, at 11 a.m. CST. In addition, Goodyear blimp pilots will sign autographs at the booth on Thursday, July 26, at 11 a.m. CST and on Friday, July 27, at 11 a.m. CST.

Goodyear also will display several aviation tires – including the Flight Custom III and Flight Special II – at its AirVenture booth. “Both tires are designed for the general aviation market and offer an unparalleled combination of performance and value,” said Varndell.

“In the general aviation segment, EAA AirVenture is one of the most important shows. We are thrilled to be part of this year’s event in Oshkosh, and look forward to interacting with our customers and other general aviation enthusiasts.”
