"Engineering is a field that many students pass up because they feel it may be too difficult," said Darryl Milburn, global human resource director for Goodyear's Research, Development, Engineering and Quality organization. "We want students to see that engineering can be fun and there are many things in the world that would not be possible without engineers. Our products – tires – for example, require some of the brightest minds in the engineering field to produce. We need students to get excited about engineering. Our goal is to be a partner in providing these resources and building capabilities within our future talent pool."

High school seniors will also have the unique opportunity to compete for one of five scholarships in the amounts of $2,500 to $5,000. Individual schools can also win up to $10,000 in grant money through a competition that includes submitting a short video to explain how their school would use the grant money to strengthen its engineering related programs.

Interested schools and students should visit the Goodyear Career Day webpage for further information. http://www.goodyear.com/careerday. Event registration is free and every participating student will receive a complimentary lunch and t-shirt. The deadline to register for the event is April 15, 2012. There is a limit to the number of students that can be accommodated, so please register early.
