Goodyear’s community engagement strategy focuses on building and supporting collaborative programs that create positive outcomes for people, communities and the world around us. Goodyear’s grant program is designed to utilize our resources to build and support collaborative programs within our community investment focus areas. Our key focus areas reflect the global and local nature of our business and where Goodyear can make the greatest impact including:  promoting safe mobility to make our communities stronger (safe); inspiring people to reach their potential in school and prepare for careers (smart); and, reducing waste and conserving energy for our planet (sustainable).  Associate engagement serves as the foundational element of all of Goodyear’s community engagement efforts. 

Community Grant Guidelines


All requests for community grants for consideration by The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company must be submitted through our online application system.

If a proposal meets specific guidelines and our strategic goals and objectives, it will be considered for funding. Applications that are faxed or mailed will be returned to the organization with an invitation to the online application system.

Each year, we receive thousands of proposals for a variety of initiatives, programs and events. While we are pleased that there are so many volunteers and organizations working to make a difference in our communities, we are focused on those initiatives that align with our overall community investment priorities. All requests will be reviewed and only eligible requests will be considered. All eligible requests will be accepted or declined at Goodyear’s sole discretion. Goodyear funds organizations that demonstrate competency and effectiveness. Organizations seeking and receiving funds from Goodyear must provide information on how projects will be evaluated and measured and report on the progress of those projects.

The guidelines may be changed without advance notice at Goodyear’s sole discretion.

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company does not generally support:
 

  • Individuals or family reunions
  • U. S. based organizations that do not have tax-exempt status under Section 501(c) 3 of the U. S. Internal Revenue Service Code, or the equivalent.
  • Organizations formed outside of the U.S. that do not have a charitable equivalency status under the laws and provisions of their respective government.
  • Organizations that discriminate based on race, color, sex, gender identity, and/or expression, religion, sexual orientation, national origin, age or disability.
  • Donations of promotional merchandise
  • Political, legislative, or lobbying organizations
  • Religious endeavors
  • Movie, film or television documentaries
  • Concerts, beauty contests, fashion shows or other entertainment events
  • Fraternal organizations and related events
  • Local sports or athletic teams
  • Travel or organized field trips
  • Marketing sponsorships, cause marketing or advertising projects
  • Service clubs or organizations

Frequently Asked Questions


What is the deadline to apply for community support?

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company currently accepts applications for contributions year-round.  We do require that you submit your application for support at least 90 days prior to the start of your program or project.

Is there a dollar amount limitation for community support applications?

No. There is no dollar amount limitation for a request for support. However, first time awards typically range from $5,000 to $25,000.

Do you provide tire donations?

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company generally provides tire donations on a very limited basis and does not accept unsolicited requests for tire donations.

Do you provide promotional merchandise?

The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company generally does not provide donations of promotional merchandise items, including baskets or items for door prizes.

Who do I contact for information about submitting an application?

If we need additional information or have any questions, we will contact you.

How do I know if my request was received?

You will receive a confirmation email when your completed application is received. If additional information is needed, you will be contacted.

When should I expect to receive a response from my application submission?

On average, it takes approximately 60 days from the application submission date to receive a response.

How can I check the status of my application?

You will receive a confirmation email when your completed application is received. You will be contacted if we need additional information. After we review your application, Goodyear will notify you of its decision which will be made at Goodyear’s sole discretion.

Where can I request a sports, entertainment, lifestyle or gaming enterprise sponsorship?

I faxed, mailed or emailed a request for support from The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, should I reapply?

We do not accept requests that are sent by fax, mail or email. All applications must be entered via the online application to be considered.

The Goodyear Foundation


The Goodyear Foundation does not accept unsolicited requests. The Goodyear Foundation is a charitable private foundation acting as a philanthropic arm of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Goodyear provides funding to the Foundation which, in turn, conducts an independent grant and funding process to identify and select optimal grantees and fund recipients. Its purpose is to support significant community programs and collaborations aligned with the company’s community engagement strategy.
